UPVC Front Door Repaired Without Replacing the Mechanism in Sutton
A customer in Sutton contacted Stride Lock & Key believing that the complete multi-point locking mechanism in their UPVC front door needed replacing.
We attended the same day and inspected the lock and full mechanism before replacing anything. The components themselves were working correctly. The problem was with the way the door was sitting and engaging with the locking points.
Rather than fitting an unnecessary replacement mechanism and charging the customer for new parts and the associated labour, the UPVC door was adjusted and realigned.
Once the adjustments were completed, the locking mechanism engaged correctly again and the door locked successfully.
This is why we believe in diagnosing before replacing. A faulty-feeling lock does not always mean the locking mechanism itself has failed.
UPVC Back Door Adjustment & Same-Day Euro Cylinder Replacement in Salfords
A customer in Salfords, Surrey contacted Stride Lock & Key because their UPVC back door was no longer hanging correctly and needed adjustment.
The door was assessed and adjusted so that it sat and operated correctly again. During the visit, the customer also requested that the existing euro cylinder be replaced.
The particular cylinder required was not one we had in stock at the time. Rather than asking the customer to wait for another appointment, we tracked down a suitable replacement, collected it and returned to fit it the same day.
The job was completed with the UPVC door correctly adjusted and the replacement euro cylinder installed, leaving the customer with a properly functioning and secure back door.
Garden Gate Locks & Hardware Fitted in Thornton Heath
A customer in Thornton Heath contacted Stride Lock & Key looking to improve the locking arrangements on a wooden garden gate. They requested two new locks as well as a handle that could provide a solid point of leverage when opening and closing the gate.
Suitable hardware was sourced for the job, including a new night latch with keys and a snib, an all-weather round external handle and a new padlock with a corresponding padlock catch mechanism.
The round handle was fitted as a fixed pull handle rather than as an operating door handle, giving the customer a practical way to pull the wooden gate without relying on the lock itself for leverage.
The work was arranged around the customer’s availability and completed within three days of the initial call.
The installation took place on a Bank Holiday, but no additional Bank Holiday surcharge was added to the customer’s bill.
The result was a more practical gate with two locking options and dedicated hardware for opening and closing it.
